So I’m currently sitting in front of the computer in a wet pair of jeans—my Sling & Stones—after sticking them in the wash and now trying to do a wet stretch after 131 days of wear (worn about 4-5 days a week).
The last time I washed my dry jeans, my 100-day-old pair of Nudies Slim Kim shrunk to the point where I couldn’t pull them on anymore (or I gained an inordinate amount of weight in the time it took for the jeans to wash and dry). I wasn’t too confident that my Slings would still fit after the initial wash. However, Reid just watched his pair of Samurai 710xx, and since the starch all washed out, his jeans are now more comfortable with less sheen, a truer blue color, and greater contrast on the exposed weft. Encouraged by the results of his wash, I did the same.
I’ll see what the end result is when they finally dry. I’m pretty sure they’re not worn in enough to have a nice contrast in wear, but you can see in the picture below what they’re supposed to look like, when you compare Reid’s post-wash Samurai’s with my pre-wash Slings here:
Those Samurai honeycombs are pretty amazing. Maybe my Slings need to travel to go hiking in Yosemite and travel through New York, India, Ireland and LA, too, before they can develop some sweet honeycombs like that!
